Ableist language refers to words and expressions that reinforce discrimination against people with disabilities. Many of these phrases are deeply embedded in everyday speech and are often used without harmful intent.

Through Watch Your Mouth, Common Senses invites people to pause, reflect, and begin shifting the language we use. Change takes time, and the goal is not perfection but progress. Together, we can hold each other accountable and work toward more respectful and inclusive ways of communicating.

I know it's going to take time to unlearn, but I won't let perfect get in the way of very good. I hope you will help keep me accountable along the way, and I will do the same for you.
